The new Vauxhall Grandland plug-in hybrid is available to order now. The facelifted mid-size SUV gets new exterior and interior styling that’s now more in line with the latest-generation Vauxhall Mokka and Vauxhall Crossland, while a plug-in hybrid powertrain is still available alongside the petrol and diesel options.

According to Vauxhall, the 222bhp electrified version of the Grandland is capable of 35 miles of pure-electric driving and can return up to 204mpg fuel economy, while emitting as little as 29g/km of CO2 – less than the outgoing Grandland X Hybrid. That also means it attracts a Benefit-in-Kind (BiK) company-car tax rate of 11%, making it ideal for company-car drivers.
On the outside, the new Grandland features Vauxhall’s ‘Vizor’ front grille, first seen on the latest Mokka and soon to appear on an all-new fifth-generation Vauxhall Astra, too. There are also apative IntelliLux LED headlights, comprising 168 LED elements, which were first seen on the latest Vauxhall Insignia saloon.

The new Grandland also gets a night-vision system that can alert you to pedestrians or animals hidden in the darkness up to 100 metres ahead. On top of that is a new 'highway integration assist' system, which keeps the Grandland in the middle of its lane and maintains a safe distance from the vehicle in front.

That system also incorporates adaptive cruise control, which is capable of ‘stop & go’ functionality. This means, after setting your car’s distance from the vehicle ahead, the system will bring the car to a halt if traffic slows to a stop, and then set off automatically when the vehicle in front moves again.
Inside, the new plug-in Grandland features the 'Pure Panel' co*ckpit design already seen in the Mokka SUV. This includes a 12-inch digital driver’s display and 10-inch infotainment touchscreen, orientated towards the driver to reduce the need to take your eyes off the road. The new Grandland also comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity, plus wireless smartphone charging on top-spec models.
Right now, the plug-in hybrid Grandland is only available in two trim levels: SRi and Elite. SRi comes with 18-inch black alloy wheels, the ‘Pure Panel’ driver display and a 180-degree rear-view camera, as well as a black roof, wheelarch cladding and roof rails.
Elite trim builds on that with 19-inch alloy wheels and extra technology such as Matrix LED headlights, wireless smartphone charging, advanced parking assistance and side blind-spot alerts. The range-topper also comes with keyless entry and start, a power tailgate and upgraded front seats.
First deliveries of the new Vauxhall Grandland are expected to begin later this year, with the SRi trim starting from £34,365 and Elite from £35,015. The new plug-in hybrid Grandland is the latest electrified model from Vauxhall, which plans to offer a fully electrified range by 2024.
