It was 31st October 1926. I boy was born in Moga, Punjab, India. His name is Narinder. Moga is a very unknown place but Narinder makes it famous all over the world. As time passes Narinder grew up and by 1955 he becomes the "Father of Fiber Optics".
Yes you are right i am talking about Padma Vibhusan Dr. Narinder Sing Kapany. Her daughter Ms. Kiran Kaur Kapany is receiving Padma Vibhusan award from the Presiden of India in this picture just in the rightside of your hand. Padma Vibhusan award is worlds biggest award. Nobel price is sixth in position compare to Padma Vibhusan Award.
Kapany brings tomorrow's technology to 20th century by his innovation as a scientist. His high school is from Dehradun. Agra university becomes world famous by giving him a graduate degree. Then it was the turn of Imperial College London to become famous as for his Ph.D degree done in this college. Here he starts to play with light and glass. He named the technology as 'fiber optics' in 1960. Eventually the name clicks in the industry.
He invented a glass wire which can transport light. He was searching for a medium which can carry light encoded images. In 1953 he achieved his goal. He pumped a beam of light through a set of 29.52 inch-long glass wires without losing signal in the transmission. Today most of us know fiber optics as submarine cables and terriestrial cables which carry 95 to 98% of internet traffic. In reality it has implementation to save human race like disciplines of laryngoscopes, bronchoscopes, laparoscopes and endoscopes to explore the interior of the human body. It is being used to measure voltage temperature and pressure. Now it is using to reduce global worming by implementing alternative energy as to capture solar energy with high efficiency.

A submarine cable travels continent to continent. Kapany did same thing. He started from India and landed in England. His final destination was california once he left England. Frankly speaking california becomes his new home. In reality a legand like Kapany has no home. The habitable globe is his home. he was a philanthropist. He gifted US$5, 00000 to Asian Arts museum of San Francisco, California, Santa, Cruz. He was always a good friend of entreprenures. He equiped a chair in entreprenureship at UC Cruz after his name. His bold foot print in University of California would never been forgotten.
