Mr. Carney taught at KU from 1940 until he retired as a professor emeritus in 1975. He was a co-founder of the Midwestern Music Camp at KU. Earlier, he taught music at high schools in Marshalltown, Iowa, and Pittsburg, and in the Shawnee Mission School District.

He was inducted into the Kansas Music Educators Hall of Fame in 1977. He received a bachelor's degree in music from the University of MissouriColumbia and did graduate work at Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill. He was a member and past choir director of the Lawrence United Methodist Church. He was born in Washington, lowa, and lived in Kirksville, and Fort Scott, before he moved to Lawrence in 1940. His wife, Geneva J.

Carney, died in 1974. Survivors include two brothers, Edward Lyle Carney. Gallup, N.M., and Russell Carney. Tulsa, and two sisters, Margaret Crew. Augusta, and Betty Miller.

Cooper Jr. Gerald M. Carney Jack O. Cooper 82, Prairie Village, a former trucking company owner, died April 1, 1991, at the home. Mr.

Cooper was president of the Jack Cooper Transport Co. Inc. from 1948 until he retired in 1982. He was chairman of the board of Hisonic an Olathe electronics manufacturing company. He formerly served on the boards of the American Trucking Associations and the United Missouri Bank of Kansas City.

He was former president of the National Automobile Transporters Association. He was a member of the Mission Hills Country Club, the Kansas City Club and the 822 Club. He was a lifelong area resident. Survivors include his wife. Virginia Cooper of the home: Jack O.

Hamilton was a co-owner of the Hamilton Bus retiring in 1971. She was a former member of the Memorial Christian Church and a member of the Red Bridge Christian Church and the Christian Women's Fellowship. She was 49-year member and past worthy matron of the Marlborough chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Friendship Conclave of the Order of True Kindred. She was a lifelong area resident.

Mr. Stokes had been director of personnel since 1983. He was a teacher and counselor in the Lee's Summit School District from 1962 to 1970 and was principal of Pleasant Lea Junior High School from 1970 to 1983. He was a member of the Missouri and national associations of secondary school principals and the American Association of School Personnel Administrators. He was a 1961 graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia and received a master's degree in counseling and personnel administration from MU in 1962.

He was a member of the Lee's Summit Chamber of Commerce. He served on the citizens advisory committee to the Lee's Summit School District. He was a member of the Lee's Summit Optimist Club and was a former optimist of the year. He helped to form and was past chairman of the DARE Program in Lee's Summit. He was a member of the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Stokes was a 21-year-member of the Boy Scouts of America. He was an honorary warrior with the rank of sachem in the Tribe of Mic-0-Say. He received the St. George Award from the Catholic Diosese of Kansas City-St.

Joseph for his work in promoting Scouting. He was a member and eucharistic minister of Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church a and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was born in St. Joseph and moved to Lee's Summit in 1962. Survivors include his wife.
