God Of War Ragnarök PC: Pre-Order Bonuses & Edition Differences (2024)

Summary

  • God of War Ragnarok, the sequel to the acclaimed 2022 game, will be coming to PC on September 19, 2024 with two versions available.
  • The Standard Edition includes the game and Valhalla DLC for $59.99, while the Deluxe Edition adds digital content like armor and cosmetic items.
  • Pre-order bonuses for all editions include Kratos' Risen Snow armor and Atreus' Risen Snow tunic, unlocked in-game via story progression.

After recent speculation, the PlayStation State of Play event on May 30 confirmed that Santa Monica Studio's acclaimed 2022 sequel, God of War Ragnarök, will be coming to PC on September 19, 2024. In recent years, Sony has brought many of its previously console-exclusive games to PC, with both Marvel's Spider-Man and its 2020 sequel Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, both Horizon games, and more, with Sucker Punch's samurai epic Ghost of Tsushima recently being ported to the platform.

As confirmed in a PlayStation Blog post following the State of Play event, Santa Monica Studio will be partnering with Jetpack Interactive to bring God of War Ragnarök following the studio's successful port of its 2018 predecessor, God of War. As is to be expected from a PC release, the game will have features such as unlocked framerates, higher graphical settings and resolutions, ultra and super-ultra widescreen support, and more.

Every Game Revealed At PlayStation State Of Play (May 2024)

14 PlayStation 5 and PS VR2 titles were showcased during the State of Play event in late May 2024. Here’s everything you need to know about them.

There Are Two Main Versions Of God Of War Ragnarök On PC

A Standard And A Deluxe Edition

Two versions of God of War Ragnarök will be available for PC gamers on September 19, both of which are only available digitally on Steam and the Epic Game Store. The first and most basic edition is the Standard Edition, which includes only the game itself - along with its roguelite-inspired Valhalla DLC, which launched for free on PS5 and PS4 last December - and retails at $59.99.

The Deluxe Edition, however, has far more digital content for an extra $10. Much like the Standard Edition, this includes both the base game and Valhalla but also comes with the official God of War Ragnarök Digital Soundtrack and Dark Horse Digital Mini Artbook, along with additional armor, cosmetic items, and weapon upgrades for players to unlock in the game.

The full list of content in the God of War Ragnarök Digital Deluxe Edition is as follows:

  • Full God of War Ragnarök game for PC (Includes Valhalla DLC)
  • Kratos Darkdale armor
  • Atreus Darkdale attire (cosmetic)
  • Darkdale blade handles for the Blades of Chaos
  • Darkdale axe grip for the Leviathan Axe
  • Official God of War Ragnarök Digital Soundtrack
  • Dark Horse Digital Mini Artbook

The Darkdale set has well-rounded Stats, focusing on Strength, Runic, and Vitality (and Defense for the Chest Armor), and is especially suited to players who use Spartan Rage, as all of its Perks are focused around it.

These bonuses match the Digital Deluxe Edition for the PlayStation versions of the game. Unlike the original 2022 release, however, there's no sign of a Collector's Edition of the game for PC with physical content - although even that edition had a digital code for the game on PlayStation rather than a physical disc - so there's no sign of the impressive 16-inch Mjolnir replica returning.

Regardless of what edition of God of War Ragnarök players purchase on Steam or the Epic Game Store, if they pre-order the game before September 19, they will receive Kratos' Risen Snow armor and Atreus' Risen Snow tunic cosmetic. As with the Darkdale set, this is exclusive but is unlocked in the game via story progression, meaning players can't use them from the start of the game but can equip them after completing the first main story Path Quest "Surviving Fimbulwinter," as it will be in the glowing blue Lost Loot chest next to Brok and Sindri's shop.

While Atreus' tunic is purely cosmetic, Kratos' Risen Snow armor set can increase both Strength, Stagger Resistance and stun damage done to enemies launched into the air, either with heavy attacks or specific launching skills.

Considering how well Jetpack Interactive's God of War port was received, PC players have been looking forward to seeing its award-winning sequel on the platform. Fortunately, when God of War Ragnarök does arrive, it looks like those on PC won't be missing out on any of the digital bonuses PlayStation players had back in 2022, giving them the full experience.
