There is no one-size-fits-all method of instruction for ELs or for any student group. A district must take into account the students, language proficiency levels, content, background knowledge needed and available district resources. EL instruction is better through collaboration between content area and EL educators, determining best teaching strategies to use. Grouping is just one option of many.

Learners were appreciated for their efforts in reading to climb levels and honing their English reading skills, with end-of-session reading awards. There are no two ways about the fact that developing strong independent reading skills in children is fundamental and foundational to success. A Reading Program that is implemented and monitored well, not only helps children improve their language skills but also helps them gain a deeper understanding of different subjects. #readingisfun #readingchallenge #readingskills #LearningToLearn #TheInfinitySchool

One student consumes English content for fun while others never engage with English outside class. What gives? We're thrilled to invite the great Tim Warre to speak with our community next week on Atomic Classroom Habits. In James Clear’s 2018 book “Atomic Habits” the writer discusses the power of making small 1% improvements to our daily habits and how these incremental changes can have long-lasting compounding effects. This talk will look at ways we can apply this principle and theories of habit formation in general to a classroom setting.Attendees will leave this talk with practical ideas and tweaks they can make in their own classes, as well as a longer-term framework for putting their students on a path to more effective and rewarding language acquisition. This is an open session - register with the link in the comments. Hope to see you there!Any questions on the topic? Drop them below and we can begin the discussion.
